Cameron "Cal Art" Lewis is an artist from Charleston, South Carolina, whose work blends Southern storytelling with bold symbolism and a deep respect for Japanese culture.

As a Charleston-based artist, his work is built on everything that shaped him—family, travel, anime, culture, music, and moments that don’t always have words. Through Cal Art, he blends Black identity with global influence, drawing inspiration from street culture, Japanese aesthetics, the exploration of identity, spirituality, and all the layers that shape the Black experience.

Recurring elements move through his work as his signature visual language—stripes, cherry blossoms, and Japanese kanji. Each one carries weight. The stripes bring structure and rhythm, but also represent the duality in life. The cherry blossoms represent the beauty of life—temporary, but meaningful. The kanji exists as both form and meaning—sometimes understood, sometimes simply felt—adding another layer of depth and intention to every piece. Together the three form his signature, which creates work that is both introspective and powerful- honouring his roots while pushing his vision forward.

Together, it creates stories about growth, pressure, and purpose.

Every piece carries intention. Every detail means something.
